Admission Details
The Visiting Student admission category is not appropriate for the following student situations:
To apply as a Visiting Student submit the online application and choose "Visiting Student". You will create an application account using your email address and a password of your choice, which allows you to save your application and sign back in at a later date. Please allow two weeks to process your Visiting Student application for admission. When your application has been processed, you will receive an email notification with details about registering for classes online.
Visiting Students must provide transcripts demonstrating completion of any prerequisites or other requirements of coursework at Missouri S&T. Otherwise, transcripts are not required for admission purposes for Visiting Students.
Visiting Students are limited to 7 credit hours a semester. Courses are for credit and will appear on a transcript and can be transferred, if acceptable, to the receiving institution. Visiting Students may not transfer into a degree granting division of the university during the term in which they are enrolled as a Visiting Student. Transfer into a degree granting division of the university requires completion of the regular application process and submission of the application fee. No graduate credit is available to Visiting Students.
Registration for classes is open on a space-available basis. Visiting Students cannot enroll until "Open Registration" begins. Please see the Registrar’s academic calendar for dates of open enrollment. Contact the Registrar’s Office at 573-341-4181 to determine if space is available for specific courses. All Visiting Students wishing to enroll in a mathematics course must present a Missouri S&T Math Placement Test score before enrolling.
Visiting Students are not eligible for financial aid. Tuition costs for Visiting Students are the same as regular admitted students. All tuition and fees are payable by appropriate deadlines. Visiting Students are not required to pay an application fee.
Senior citizens who enroll as a Visiting Student may be eligible for discounted fees. Missouri senior citizens (aged 65 and older) may enroll in on-campus undergraduate courses as a Visiting Student with "hearer" status (not-for-credit), on a space-available basis. There is a $25 registration fee per semester. Registration fee covers the cost of coursework (traditional "tuition" is waived). Senior citizens are not charged a health services fee, student activity fee or IT fee (supplemental course fees still apply, if applicable). Senior citizens are issued a "guest pass" granting them access to the library and computing network. For more information, contact the Admissions Office at 573-341-6731.
