Subsurface Engineering Camp

July 13-15, 2023

This three-day camp will explore the fundamentals of subsurface energy engineering including information about source rock, reservoir rock, clean energy, and how underground wells are drilled and produced. Working in small teams, campers will conduct experiments and compete to see who achieves the best design drilling fluid recipe that will contain air pressure and prevent air from passing along the cylinder. These experiments are conducted to simulate actual drilling well operations in the field. This camp will introduce 6th-12th grade students to the fundamentals of subsurface energy engineering and transition to a cleaner energy system. Awards will be given in the form of gift cards - $250 for 1stplace, $200 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place.
