Missouri University of Science and Technology
Studying in a foreign country challenges the way you think. These challenges will help you grow as a student, person and citizen of the world by fostering your ability to solve problems, think critically, adapt to new situations and understand foreign cultures. Missouri S&T has established programs with more than 45 international universities throughout Europe, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. Students may study abroad for a summer, a semester or even a whole year. For many approved student exchange programs, your educational fees will be the same as S&T’s on-campus costs. The most popular study-abroad programs for S&T students are the Missouri-London Program, the Middleburg Center for Transatlantic Studies (in Belgium), and programs established with universities in Prague, Germany, China, India and more.
Members of S&T’s student chapter of Engineers Without Borders wake up to the sounds of rainforest animals, sleep on the floor of primitive structures, and improve the lives of strangers thousands of miles away. Since 2005, the organization has made more than 20 trips outside the United States, helping to bring clean water, proper sanitation and safer living conditions to rural populations. Hundreds of Missouri S&T EWB students have traveled to Bolivia, Honduras, Guatemala and other developing countries to practice their problem-solving and leadership skills. Students who participate in an international experience (EWB, Study Abroad, co-op abroad, etc) and take courses that emphasize cultural awareness or foreign languages can showcase for potential employers their ability to think globally.
The Missouri-London Program is a special partnership with Britain’s Imperial College. Courses are taught by faculty from eight Missouri universities. In addition to exploring London, students who participate in this program get a chance to take day trips to places like Bath, Cambridge, Oxford and Stonehenge. Students also have the option of completing an internship with a company in London as part of the program. A similar Missouri-Greece Program is available for students who prefer to warmth of the Mediterranean to the elegance of London.
Missouri S&T sends over 110 students a year to over 40 different countries.
