College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)

This program has been developed for students who may have gained knowledge outside the regular classroom. At Missouri S&T, subject examinations are used to award credit for specific coursework when the content of the examination is similar to the course offered. College-level examinations are given at CLEP centers throughout the United States including Missouri S&T. Please check the table below for CLEP subject examinations accepted by Missouri S&T for college credit.

 * Engineering majors will receive credit for MATH 1214 (4 credit hours).
Non-engineering majors will receive credit for MATH 1208 (5 credit hours).

AP AND CLEP REGULATIONS

  • Any student having 90 semester hours or more of acceptable credit are not eligible for AP or CLEP subject exams.
  • AP credit will be awarded for high school students only.
  • An examination may not be repeated in an attempt to earn credit.
  • If there is not a Missouri S&T course equivalency for credit earned, elective credit will be applied as though transferred from another institution. Applies to the following exam: Art.
  • A score of 57 is required to receive credit for a CLEP exam.
  • At the time of the exam, present a photo ID and two checks - one for $77 payable to CLEP (will accept credit and debit) and one for $30 payable to Missouri S&T. (Cash or check; no student account billing.)
